Historic Photos of Fort Wayne ReviewUpdate: 7 months later - Grandmother still has this book close at hand I noticed on a recent visit!
I purchased this book for my grandmother who grew up in Fort Wayne in the 30s and 40s. I think she will be thrilled. Plenty of large pictures and good descriptions.
I think a good accessory to a book like this would be a map to visualize where the places and neighborhoods in the pictures are located. A future edition could include more modern pictures to show the current state of things.
I think in our rush to modernize our country we've left behind alot of good ideas. Streetcars is a good example. Downtown shopping is another. I'm not a fan of malls.Historic Photos of Fort Wayne OverviewAt the centennial of its founding by General Anthony Wayne in 1794, the city of Fort Wayne could boast prosperity and rapid growth as a leading industrial center of the Midwest. By the start of World War I, it had become the second largest city in Indiana. The images collected here offer a comprehensive look into the history of this remarkable city.
