The do justice to traditional controlled experiments, then cover surveys, diaries, caset studies, interviews, focus groups, and ethnographic methods. They provide a updated description of how to do professional usability testing and web-based online surveys, web logging, and even eye-tracking data analysis. Finally they close with a vital section on "Working with Research Participants with Impairments" - making it clear that universal usability to design systems for all users is part of what every usability professional is expected to do. I would have liked more screen shots with specific examples and stories of successful research projects that improved well-known web sites.
